The Table
2004 brings a new CD release from the re-organized Heart of Gold Band. Recorded
last year, "At The Table" is a collection of original songs literally "brought
to the table" by Brian Godchaux, Donna Jean Godchaux-MacKay, Zion Rock Godchaux,
David MacKay, and Kinsman MacKay. The result is a multi-flavored blend of electric
and acoustic roots music, from soaring electric violin and mandolin to earthy
tastes of reggae and R&B to down-home stand-up bass and brushes. Lead vocals
are shared between Brian, Donna Jean, Zion, and Kinsman, with harmonies that
definitely suggest a "family blend."

Recorded in 1996 at the legendary Muscle Shoals Sound Studio, this 10-song CD
of original material is Donna Jean Godchaux-MacKay's first solo effort following
a lengthy absence from the music scene. Featuring guitarist Will McFarlane (Bonnie
Raitt), this R&B/rock'n'roll-flavored CD tips its hat to the funky, Muscle
Shoals groove.

Heart
of Gold Band CD
This CD is a mix of three live shows recorded between 12/79 and 1/81. "The Back
Door" in San Francisco was Keith Godchaux's last gig before his untimely death
in 1980, and the Heart of Gold Band's first show. Recorded at the "Jambalaya" in
Arcata, CA, the reformed band played one of their few remaining shows before
disbanding. The CD features Keith & Donna Godchaux, Gregg Anton, Steve Kimock,
Mark Adler, David MacKay, and guest John Cipollina.
